The Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Peerzada starrer “Phillauri” has all the elements to become a super hit. It looks fun, quirky and intriguing. The movie breaks the stereotypical tradition of a Manglik girl marrying a tree before getting married and Suraj Sharma of “Life of Pi” fame has to go through it for being a heavy Manglik. Suraj gets married to a tree, and Anushka who is stuck in the tree starts to haunt him saying that he is now married to her.
As Suraj is set to be married in a couple of days, Anushka follows him around the house and creates tension. Anushka in her white and gold ensemble looks radiant even as a ghost. The VFX makes her look like a etheral and makes her float around. When Mehreen, who is set to marry Suraj, asks Shashi (Anushka) if she is haunting because of an unfulfilled dream, the trailer goes into the past which tracks the lovers Anushka and Diljeet.
The movie gives the feel of “Love Aaj Kal” where the past is shown in sepia tones and present in bright colors. Diljeet’s character, Phillauri has the power to change the world with his voice and then sets out to make a name for himself. From his departure, things go downhill and leave the story intriguing. Though Anushka forms the connection between centuries past the present, it is Diljeet’s character that leaves you intrigued.
The trailer has received much praise from the industry and audience as well for its fun element and has all the right elements to make him a big hit! The movie is all set to hit theaters on March 24.
