MP Ravi Kishan, Father Of 4 Calls For Population Control In India

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) and actor Mr. Ravi Kishan called for population control in India.

On the 22nd of July, Friday, Mr. Ravi Kishan addressed the media and said he is willing to introduce a private member’s bill on population control, in the Lok Sabha.  Mr. Ravi Kishan said, “This is a bill for development.  The day it is passed, the nation will fly towards being a ‘Vishwa guru’.  I am viewing the bill only with an aspect of development and not that of caste or religion.”  He further added, “With the way in which it is rising, we are heading towards explosion.” 

Concluding his interaction with the media, Mr. Ravi Kishan urged the opposition leaders to allow the bill.  He said, “I request the Opposition to let me introduce the bill and listen to why I want to do it.”

The statement of Mr. Ravi Kishan came days after a report from the United Nations.  As per the data, India is likely to pass China in terms of population, by 2023 end.  In addition, concerned about the rising population in India, the Union Minister of State for Health Ms. Bharati Pravin Pawar also said that the Centre is not contemplating any legislative measures to control India’s population.  She added that the Government of India should take necessary measures to control the Indian population.

Meanwhile, the MP of Gorakhpur Constituency, who is the father of four children, one son, and three daughters, is being trolled for his comments on population control.

Many Twitter and social media users posted comments criticizing the BJP MP for his double standards.  One user wrote, “Ravi Kishan who has 7 siblings and 4 children himself will bring the population control bill. It’s like Osama bringing an anti-terrorism bill.”

Another user wrote, “Ravi Kishan is a legend. He danced to songs like ‘Lehenga Utha Deb Remote Se’ Acted in movies like ‘Saali Bada Sataveli’ And then demanded a ban on vulgarity in Bhojpur films and songs. (sic)”
