On Thursday, the Movie Artists’ Association (MAA) lifted the ban on Telugu actress Sri Reddy. This comes hours after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took up the actress’ allegations of sexual exploitation.

The MAA also announced a Committee Against Sexual Harassment would be formed and meet once in three months. MAA President Shivaji Raja the committee would have senior actors and filmmakers from the Telugu movie industry. The Committee once formed would take up and look into the complaints of sexual harassment.

Before MAA released this statement, NHRC sent notices to the Telangana Government and the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry over the actress’ allegations.

Last week, Sri Reddy held a protest outside the office of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce on the 7th of April. She sat shirtless outside the Chamber protesting the casting couch which is a euphemism for sexual harassment.
