Shraddha Kapoor as Saina Nehwal

The talented 29-year old actress Shraddha Kapoor took to twitter to reveal her new role in the biopic ‘Saina’ based on the fascinating journey of badminton star Saina Nehwal.

The film will be directed by none other than Amole Gupte who spent a year and a half researching on Saina Nehwal collecting information worth two terabytes. Amole has also revealed that the movie will depict her life from the day she was born to her present achievements. T-series will be the production house for the film that is set to start shooting early next year.

The actress who is currently working on a biopic of Haseena Parkar, the sister of Dawood Ibrahim named ‘Haseena’ showed her excitement about getting the role with a number of tweets acknowledging that this would be the hardest role she’s ever had to play.

Deepika Padukone was Saina’s preferred choice to play her in the biopic. The ace badminton player said at the NDTV Indian of the Year award, “Her (Deepika’s) father has been a badminton player and I have seen her playing badminton. She used to play really good. She can do justice to the role and I really wish she can do the role.” But the makers of the film decided to take Shraddha mostly based on the fact that she has similar features to the Saina Nehwal.

Saina who is in China revealed how glad she was about the movie and how she and Shraddha are friends which would make it easier to help her with her badminton skills to add more authenticity to the film.
