On the 25th of October, Monday, the presentation ceremony of the 67th National Film Awards was held at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.

Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India, presented the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award to the Tollywood Superstar Mr. Rajinikanth. With this, Mr. Rajinikanth becomes the 51st awardee of the honourable Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The award given by the Government of India (GoI) is the highest honour given for achievements and excellence in Indian Cinema. The 50th awardee of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2018) was Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

Feeling proud over the prestigious award, Mr. Rajinikanth expressed gratitude and posted a tweet ahead of the award. He took to his Twitter handle and said, “Tomorrow is an important occasion for me with two special landmarks. One, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, being conferred upon me by the Government of India because of the love and support of the people.”

Besides Mr. Rajinikanth, Bollywood actress Ms. Kangana Ranaut also received the National Film Award for the best actress. She was given the award for her acting in her movies, Manikarnika and Panga. With this, the actress has won four national awards. In the past, Ms. Kangana Ranaut won for the Supporting Actress in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, best actress award for her movies Queen and Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

In addition, Actors Manoj Bajpayee and Dhanush were given Best Actor awards for their movies Bhonsle and Asuran, respectively.

The late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s theatrical hit Chichore (2019,) won the best movie award at the 67th National Film Awards.

The 67th National Film Awards were announced in March 2021, but the awards presentation event was held today, the 25th of October. The 67th National Awards in different categories were given to show recognition to the best movies released in 2019. The National Award was delayed for a year due to the ongoing Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in India.
