UK Confirms First Death Due To COVID-19 New Variant Omicron, Says PM Johnson

On the 13th of December, Monday, the United Kingdom (U.K.,) reported its first death due to the Wuhan virus (COVID-19’s) new variant, Omicron.

The UK Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson confirmed and said, “Omicron is producing hospitalisations and sadly at least one patient has been confirmed to have died due to Omicron.” He further emphasized on the need of getting booster shots to be protected against the new dangerous variant of the Wuhan virus, the Omicron.

Calling it dangerous, the U.K., Prime Minister further said London has at least 40% Omicron cases. Mr. Boris Johnson said, “So I think the idea that this is somehow a milder version of the virus – I think that’s something we need to set on one side – and just recognise the sheer pace at which it accelerates through the population.”

Meanwhile, as of now at least 10 people are infected with the Omicron variant and are currently hospitalised in the U.K.
