The new variant of Wuhan virus, Omicron cases are rising in the Telugu State of Telangana.  In the past 24 hours, on the 26th of December, the State reported 3 more Omicron cases.

According to the Telangana Health Department, of the three new cases, two flew to Hyderabad from “At risk” countries, whereas one case came in contact with the Omicron positive case and is a result of community transmission.  The cases were confirmed after conducting a random genome sequencing test on two passengers.  In the past 24 hours, a total of 248 passengers travelled from at risk countries.  By conducting 2% random tests, the Health Authority of Telangana, came across two Omicron positive cases. 

With the new three Omicron cases, Telangana now has 44 cases of Omicron, of which 10 people are treated and have been discharged after testing negative.  The other 33 cases are being treated at the Telangana Institute of Medical Science (TIMS.)

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, the Wuhan virus cases are at 3,417 (active cases) with new 109 cases on Sunday.  As many as 190 patients recovered from the disease and one person died due to COVID-19.
