After the recent rise of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 in Maharashtra, the Telangana Government also issued an alert. 

In the past few days, states like Maharashtra and Karnataka are reporting a high number of COVID-19 cases. In Maharashtra the Shiv Sena led Government warned people of a lockdown, if precautions are not taken as per COVID-19 protocols.

On the 12th of March, the Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender conducted a video conference with the concerned officials. During the meeting, Mr. Rajender directed the officials to immediately increase regular COVID-19 testing. He said to conduct at least 50,000 samples every day and to follow the policy of ‘testing, tracing and treating’ strictly.

He said, “Ensure that there are no loopholes in the implementation of tracing and testing COVID-19 patients. We will continue the COVID-19 vaccination drive in the state and see that the remaining groups are also covered.”

In addition, special instructions related to the issue was given to district officials bordering Maharashtra. The minister issued special instructions to district medical and health officers of Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalapally and Jagtial districts bordering Maharashtra.

Etela Rajender also urged citizens of Telangana to follow all the guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus. He asked people to follow wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and frequent hand washing mandatorily.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, Telangana reported 216 new COVID-19 cases, 168 recoveries and two deaths.

With this, the number of positive Coronavirus cases are at 3,00,933 in Telangana. Of which, 2,97,363 are recovered cases, 1,652 deceased cases and 1,918 are active cases of COVID-19.
