Once again, the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases in Telangana were below 200.

In the past 24 hours, the State reported 161 fresh COVID-19 cases, of which 28 were from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) 10 each from Medchal Malkajgiri and Rangareddy and Warangal Urban, 9 each from Nalgonda and Karimnagar.

The remaining cases were 7 from Siddipet, 6 each from Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Khammam, Jagtial and Bhadradri Kothagudem, 5 each from Jangaon and Peddapalli, 4 each from Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Mahabubabad and Nizamabad, 3 each from Warangal Rural and Rajanna Sircilla, 2 each from Yadadri Bhongir, Nirmal, Mulugu and Komarambheem Asifabad, one each from Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Wanaparthy.

For the third consecutive day, Kamareddy, Jogulamba Gadwal, Medak, Nagarkurnool, Medak, Nagarkurnool, Narayanpet and Suryapet reported zero cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

In addition to the 161 new cases, Telangana reported 147 recovered/discharged cases and 2 deaths.

As per the released media bulletin, the State Health Department conducted as many as

35,421 tests for COVID-19 in between the 4th and the 5th of February. Of the total, 15,585 tests were on primary contacts and 4,250 were on secondary contacts.

The remaining cases were conducted in private and government laboratories for COVID-19 tests.

With this, the cumulative total of the COVID-19 infection tests conducted stands at 80,69,459.

With the aforementioned data, Telangana has 2,95,431 positive cases, of which 2,91,846 recovered/discharged, 1,608 died and only 1,977 are active COVID-19 cases.

The recovery rate of COVID-19 in Telangana is also improving with 98 % and fatality rate is also better at below 0.47 %.

In addition to this, the Telangana Government is conducting the COVID-19 vaccination drive to vaccinate people of Telangana in a phased manner.

On the 5th of February, Telangana concluded vaccinating healthcare workers (HCWs) in government and private set ups.

So far, around 1,93,485 HCWs have been vaccinated, which is 58 % of the targeted number.

On the 5th of February, nearly 5,388 were vaccinated against the target of 15,245.

Started from the 16th of January, the Nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive entered the second phase in Telangana. In the second phase, State police personnel would get the COVID-19 vaccination.
