The Tamil Nadu Government, on the 5th of January, Wednesday, announced night curfew and Sunday lockdowns in the State.  The decision was taken due to the rising number of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) surge and Omicron threat.

According to the imposed curfew, Gym, malls, public places and other non essential services would be closed during curfew hours. In addition, a complete lockdown was imposed on Sundays, starting from the 6th of January.

M.K. Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,  took the decision amid the COVID-19 situation and control the spread of -19 third wave.  However, the imposed lockdown does not affect  essential services like public transport, milk& vegetable delivery, vehicles for travelers and people working during night shifts are exempted from the imposed curfew.

The night curfews would be in effect from 10 P.M., to 5:00 A.M., starting from the 6th of January.
