The Serum Institute of India Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawalla, on the 14th of December, announced to launch vaccine against the Wuhan virus for children, above3+ years old. The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine by the SII is named as Covavax. Addressing an event at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII,) on Tuesday, Mr.  Poonawalla said, Covavax is an Indian made version of the United States (U.S.,) based Novavax. It is currently under trial and is showing excellent results on children. At the event, Adar Poonawalla said, “Our vaccine will be launched in six months,” he said. “It is under trial and has shown excellent data all the way down to the age group of 3.”

If successful, Covavax will be launched by mid-2022 in India, protecting kids against the COVID-19 virus.
