Amid a rise in the cases of the Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi alerted people, asking to follow COVID-19 protocols.  

On the 25th of December, Sunday, Mr. Narendra Modi held his 2022’s last episode of Mann Ki Baat (a radio show conducted by Mr. Narendra Modi) PM Modi asked citizens to be vigilant.  He said, many people would be going for vacations on Christmas and New Year to different places and asked them to follow protocols and be cautious.  He urged people to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.  He said, “”आप भी देख रहे हैं, कि, दुनिया के कई देशों में कोरोना बढ़ रहा है, इसलिए हमें, मास्क और हाथ धुलने जैसी सावधानियों का और ज्यादा ध्यान रखना है |   हम सावधान रहेंगे, तो सुरक्षित भी रहेंगे और हमारे उल्लास में कोई रूकावट भी नहीं पड़ेगी |” – पीएम.” 

It is to be noted, the Wuhan Virus infection is increasing rapidly in many countries like China, Japan, the United States of America, Brazil, Australia and the United Kingdom.  Of all the mentioned countries, the numbers are high in China, with over 268 million people being infected of the new variant of the Wuhan Virus (COVID-19) in just past 20 days.

The numbers are expected to rise in the coming days, with no space at the hospitals, following which panic have triggered in other countries across the globe.  The World Health Organisation (WHO) also issued warnings to other nations, asking to follow the COVID-19 guidelines and be alert with rapid RT-PCR COVID-19 tests and mandatory guidelines for the people.

Concerned about the massive outbreak of the Wuhan Virus for the fourth time, the Indian Health Ministry and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) issued a set of guidelines for the respective state governments.  In addition, the Union Government announced to conduct of random COVID-19 tests on 2% of international travellers, whereas mandatory tests for those coming from China to India.

In addition, many state governments in India also took the rise of COVID-19 cases seriously and issued mandatory rules in their respective states.

Meanwhile, as of now, India has reported 196 new Wuhan Virus cases in the past 24 hours with 3,428 active cases.  Number of deaths due to the infection increased to 5,30,695 including 2 fatalities reported in Kerala.
