On the 28th of January, Friday, India reported 2,51,209 new cases of the Wuhan virus.  The new cases were confirmed on Friday morning by the Union Health Ministry.  Compared to the 27th of January data, India reported 12.30% lower cases.  On Thursday, India reported over 2.86 lakh single day Wuhan virus cases.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) there are 2,51,209 new cases, 3,47,443 recoveries and 627 death cases.

With the new updated figures, India now has 21,05,611 active cases, 3,80,24,771 recoveries and 4,92,327 deaths till date. 

Notably, the current recovery rate of Wuhan virus in the country stands at 93.60% and the daily positivity rate at 15.88%. 

In addition, the top five states which reported the maximum number of single day Wuhan virus cases are: Kerala with 51,739 cases, followed by Karnataka with 38,083 cases, Tamil Nadu with 28,515 cases, Maharashtra with 25,425 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 13,474 cases.  A total of 62.59% of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 20.6% of the new cases.

Moreover, as of now, India has administered 164.44 crore vaccine doses against the Wuhan virus, under the nationwide vaccination drive, which started from the 16th of January 2021.
