The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) confirmed 2,841 new cases of the Wuhuan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours.

On the 13th of May, Friday, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 2,841 new cases with 9 fatalities and 3,295 recoveries. Furthermore, the nation registered 9 fatalities, reporting a decline in COVID-19 cases.  In addition, the MoHFW said, the active cases comprise 0.05% of the total infections, while the national recovery rate is at 98.74%

With this, India currently has 18,604 active cases and 5,24,190 deceased cases.  The new cases were confirmed after conducting 4,86,628 sample tests for the Wuhan virus infection in India. The number of Wuhan virus tests were confirmed by the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR,) on the 13th of May.

Furthermore, 14,03,220 people were vaccinated against the deadly Wuhan virus, taking the vaccinated population to over 191 crore, till date, under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, the Union Government urged people to take precaution against the virus, despite the low number of daily cases.  Many states, which removed the mandatory face mask rule, once again imposed the same, asking the citizens to follow appropriate COVID-19 protocols, to keep the cases under check and prevent the spread, avoiding the fourth wave of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic in India.
