India reported 2,797 fresh cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) with 24 deaths.

On the 8th of October, Saturday, the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) released the COVID-19 data.  As per the released data, there has been a rise in the single day cases.  On the 7th of October, the nation registered 1,997 COVID-19 cases, which increased to 2,797 cases on the 8th of October.

Furthermore, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 24 deaths due to the Wuhan virus, whereas 3,884 people recovered from COVID-19, in the past 24 hours.

With this, India currently has 29, 251 active cases, 5,28,778 death cases and 4,40,51,228 recovered/discharged cases. In addition, the active cases accounted for 0.07%, recovery rate stands at 98.75% and fatality rate is at 1.30%.

In addition, the number of cases were confirmed after conducting a total of 2,66,839 tests for COVID-19 across the country, increasing the overall tally to over 89.67 crores. 

Meanwhile, under India’s nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, approximately 218.93 crore doses have been administered to the people, till the 8th of October.
