On the 28th of May, India reported the lowest single day cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

Since the 14th of April 2021, this is the first time the nation reported below 2 lakh cases and below 4,000 deaths.

On the morning of the 28th of May, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 1,86,364 new cases, 3,660 deaths and 2,59,459 recovered/discharged cases in India.

The new updated figure is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.) In addition to the new cases, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also confirmed 20,70,508 samples being tested for the Novel Coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. With this, the cumulative total of samples tested for the Wuhan virus till date stood at 33,90,39,861.

Amongst the total new cases, Tamil Nadu (33,361,) Karnataka (24,214,) Kerala (24,166,) Maharashtra (21,273,) Andhra Pradesh (16,167,) West Bengal (13,046) and Odisha (6,736) reported the maximum number of single day cases.

With this, India currently has 27,555,457 with 23,43,152 active cases, 3,18,895 deceased cases and 24,893,410 recovered/discharged cases.

In addition, the Health Ministry said that a total of 20,57,20,660 people have been vaccinated so far in the country, including 29,19,699 who were administered vaccines in the last 24 hours.
