So far, India has close to 400 cases of three variants of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. The three variants were first discovered in the United Kingdom (U.K.,) South Africa and Brazil.  

The deadly variant of the COVID-19 infection was first discovered in the U.K., later another Variant was found in South Africa and Brazil. As per doctors, the three variants are dangerous and have 70 % more transmission capacity than the existing SARS CoV-2 variant.

According to the Union Health Department, all the infected people who travelled from the respective region. Of the total 400 cases, 158 were reported in the last two weeks. The number of cases of the aforementioned three variants is a matter of concern, especially when India is witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Regions like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh are said to be the worst affected states, with a contribution of close to 78 % of cases.

The three variants are believed to be more contagious or easier to catch than the existing COVID-19 mutant. As per medical experts, the three variants also are capable of re-infecting people who have been previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19.)

Meanwhile, India so far recorded 11,474,605 positive cases with 39,670 fresh cases.
