In the past few days, approximately 16,000 cases were registered against those who violated the guidelines of the imposed lockdown in Hyderabad, Telangana.

According to sources, the Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar confirmed the registered cases. He said, five thousand police officials are on duty to ensure everyone follows the lockdown guidelines implemented by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government.

The State has been under strict lockdown since the 12th of May. The decision to impose a two week lockdown, till the 30th of May, was taken to prevent the spread of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

Speaking to the media on the 21st of May, V.C. Sajjanar said “We will be more stringent hereafter. It is better for their safety no one ventures out unnecessarily.” He said, “A lot of them suffering from mild symptoms of COVID-19 are taking it easy thinking that it might be some viral infection. I request all of you not to turn a blind eye towards any symptoms and get yourself checked.”

In addition, V.C. Sajjanar also announced a joint association of the Cyberabad police and Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) to organise an isolation ward for people. The initiative would help people with COVID-19 positive symptoms who need to be isolated.

This is not the first time the Telangana Police took a welfare initiative during the outbreak of the deadly pandemic. In the past, the State Police launched several drives to help people of Telangana, suffering due to the COVID-19 situation in the State.

While concluding the meeting, the City Police urged people not to venture out if not necessary and to be safe, especially when the State is witnessing a second wave of the Wuhan virus.

Meanwhile, Telangana has 5,47,727 positive cases, of which 44,395 are active cases, 5,00247 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,085 are deceased cases.

It is to be noted, of all the 33 districts, the regions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limit, Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri have the highest number of COVID-19 cases.

However, since the lockdown was imposed, the State reported a dip in the daily cases with better recovery. As of now, Telangana has 91.33 % recovery rate and 0.56 % fatality rate.
