In Hyderabad, no cases of Omicron, the new mutant of the Wuhan virus (COVID-19) has been reported.

On the 6th of December, Monday, Dr. G. Srinivas Rao, the Director of Public Health in Telangana, confirmed that there are no Omicron cases in Telangana. He said, a total of 1,805 international passengers landed in Hyderabad, of which 13 came from “at risk” countries. The samples of all the suspects were sent to Telangana Institute of Medical Science (TIMS) for genome sequencing, a test conducted for Omicron. However, none of the samples tested positive for Omicron. All the passengers are Wuhan virus positive and are undergoing treatment.

On late Monday evening, results of the genome sequencing tests came, which were negative.

Meanwhile, on Monday, 535 more international passengers arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad and all passengers underwent RT-PCR tests.

Amid Omicron threat, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government, imposed strict rules including mandatory RT-PCR tests, mask wearing and other COVID-19 appropriate behavior.
