In order to contain the Wuhan virus and vector borne diseases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) started a sanitation drive.

The extensive sanitation drive is going to be held in all the State run hospitals treating the Wuhan virus also known as Coronavirus (COVID-19) patients.

The sanitation exercise at the State run Gandhi Hospital was completed recently. After the Gandhi hospital, other State run hospitals would also be sanitized in a phased manner.

An official of the GHMC Health Wing said, “As patient attendants are not allowed inside Covid wards, a clean premise was the need of the hour in the Gandhi Hospital (sic.)” The official further said, “Apart from sanitation drives, we have been instructed to identify places near hospitals to accommodate patient attendants.”

According to sources, on the 18th of May the GHMC Mayor G. Vijaya Laxmi along with GHMC Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner P. Pravinya inspected the ENT Hospital in Koti apart from sanitation activities in Amberpet circle and Moosarambagh ward.

The decision to start the sanitation drive was taken to provide a clean and healthy ambience to patients as well as their attendants.

Besides the sanitation work, the GHMC authority would also work on repairing electric poles and planting saplings.
