After the new strain of the Novel Coronavirus was discovered, France recorded its first case of the new variant of COVID-19.

According to sources, a french man who recently came from France tested positive for COVID-19 infection.

Meanwhile, the additional cases in the past 24 hours, raised concern regarding another wave of COVID-19 infection and the new strain.

The Health Ministry of France said this is the first case of the new COVID-19 strain in France. The news was confirmed on the late evening of the 25th of December.

The case has been registered after he arrived in France on the 19th of December.

The man is currently self isolating, felt alright and is in a stable condition.

The travel of the man was allowed despite the ban, as the French Government partially opened the ban for French citizens.

For now, only citizens of France or the European Union (EU,) those with residency rights there, or business travellers are allowed to make the crossing from the UK — if they can show a negative COVID-19 test less than three days old.

On the other hand, France registered 20,262 new, confirmed COVID-19 cases and 159 more related deaths in hospitals in the last 24 hours.

France’s number of confirmed COVID-19 cases stand at 2,547,771 while its death toll stands at 62,427, the seventh-highest in the world.

The new strain was first found in the United Kingdom, later the Country discovered another strain originated from South Africa.

Recently, the British Government discovered third mutant strain of COVID-19 infection originally from Nigeria.

These new strains of the deadly virus created panic among other nations.

Countries around the world have in recent days closed their borders to both Britain and South Africa following the identification of cases of the new, fast-spreading variant of the Novel Coronavirus.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) urged people to be cautious and follow all the guidelines of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
