On the 17th of December, Friday, Delhi reported 10 new cases of Omicron, the new variant of the Wuhan virus.

According to the Delhi Health Department, the new cases were reported after many international travellers entered the National Capital.  Mr. Satyendra Jain, the Health Minister of Delhi, said that 10 Omicron cases have been detected in Delhi so far, of which one person has been discharged and is under home quarantine.  He further said, many international travellers are turning out COVID-19 positive upon arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Meanwhile, with the new cases, total Omicron cases in Delhi increased to 20.

In addition to Delhi, Omicron cases were also reported from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Chandigarh.

As of now, Maharashtra has the highest number of Omicron cases (32,) followed by Delhi (20) and Rajasthan (17.)

Other states which reported Omicron cases are: Karnataka (8,) Gujarat (5,) Kerala (5,) Telangana (2,) Tamil Nadu(1,) West Bengal (1,) Andhra Pradesh (1) and Union Territories of Delhi (20) and Chandigarh (1.) 

Meanwhile, in India there are a total of 90 cases of Omicron have been reported so far.
