On the 24th of July, India reported biggest spike of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 till date.

After reporting a dip in cases two days back, in the past 24 hours, India recorded the highest spike till date.

On the morning of the 24th of July, the Health Ministry of India, confirmed 49,310 new cases taking the total cases to 12,87,945 till date.

With this, India is moving to take over Brazil and would become the second worst COVID-19 hit nation. First one is the United States of America.

Brazil has a total of 2,289,951 cases and the United States of America has 4,169,991.

While the cases crossed 12 lakhs, the death cases reached a total of 30,601.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Karnataka continue to be worst-affected from the pandemic.

Maharashtra on the 23rd of July reported 9,895 new cases, taking the total to 3,50,000.

Karnataka witnessed 5,000 daily spikeits daily and Andhra Pradesh reported nearly 8,000 fresh cases, taking the total to nearly 70,000.

While southern parts are witnessing a hike in cases, Delhi over the past few days saw a reduction as the number of cases recorded per day are less than 2,000. On the 23rd of July, Delhi reported only 1,014 new cases.

The recovery rate of Delhi also improved drastically from 34% to 85 %.

Speaking about nationwide, despite increase in the cases the situation in India is said to be under control as the fatality rate decreased to 2.41 % from the previous 2.53 %. Meanwhile, the Health Ministry of India said the recovery rate of India is more than 50%, reached to a total of 64%.

The active cases of the Novel Coronavirus is 4,40,135 and recovered or discharged cases at 8,17,209.

The health ministry said that effective clinical management of Covid-19 cases has led to an improvement in recovery figures while case fatality has been falling continuously.

The Centre said that the confirmation rate or positivity rate for India is 13.03 %.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) approved medical Institutes and hospitals are conducting clinical trials for the COVAXIN, a potential vaccine for the disease.

If approved, the Government of India is planning to launch the vaccine on the 15th of August, the Independence Day 2020.

However, an official announcement regarding the same is yet to be made.
