The Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases are increasing rapidly in Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) On the 16th of April, the State reported more than 6,000 cases, taking the cumulative total to 9.48 lakhs. 

The massive rise in single day COVID-19 cases is an alarming situation of the second wave of COVID-19. In the past few days, the State have been increasing at an alarming rate with more than 3,000 cases per day.

On the 16th of April, Andhra Pradesh reported 6,096 new positive cases, 20 deaths and 2,194 recoveries. The data of COVID-19 for the 16th of April was updated on the evening of the day.

With this, now the State has 9,48,231 positive cases, of which 7,373 are deceased cases, 9,05,266 are recovered/discharged cases and 35,592 are active cases in A.P.

Meanwhile, the State has so far conducted 1.56 crore sample tests including 35,962 tests in the last 24 hours for COVID-19.

Speaking about the district wise data, Chittoor has the highest number of new cases with 1,024, followed by 750 in East Godavari and 735 in Guntur.

Concerned about the COVID-19 situation, the A.P., Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting. During the meeting on the 16th of April, he directed the officials to take all measures to control the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.
