On the 19th of June, the Hyderabad Police resorted to carrying out a lathi charge against Raja Singh, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Goshamahal constituency, Telangana.

According to sources, Raja, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) was trying to erect the statue of freedom fighter Rani Avanti Bai Lodh at Jumet Bazar.

When the Police interrupted Raja and his followers, they started throwing stones at the Police.

In order to control the situation, the Hyderabad Police resorted to the lathi charge.

The incident took place during the late hours of the 19th of June.

Singh suffered serious head injuries and was shifted to Osmania General Hospital for treatment.

Angry with the police, Singh alleged them of attacking him and his followers for no reason and also said he would complain about the issue to the Director General Police (DGP) of Hyderabad.
