Rahul Gandhi, the President of the Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 18th of March, released the fifth list of candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections.

Out of the 56 candidates included in the list, 22 candidates will contest in Andhra Pradesh, 11 in West Bengal, 8 in Telangana, 6 in Odisha, 3 in Uttar Pradesh and 5 in Assam.

The list was declared on the night of the 18th of March, after the INC chief, Rahul Gandhi, held a meeting with the Congress Central Election Committee (CCEC.)

As of now, the INC has announced a total of 137 candidates contesting the Lok Sabha elections, starting from the 11th of April and continuing till the 19th of May.

The major parties contesting the Lok Sabha elections are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INC.

The results of the Lok Sabha elections will be announced on the 23rd of May, following which, it will be decided, which of the two Parties, the INC or the BJP, will form the next Government of India.
