The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, on the 5th of September, implemented the Sand Mining Policy, 2019 in Andhra Pradesh.

On the 4th of September, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of AP, conducted a Cabinet meeting and approved the Policy.

According to the newly implemented Sand Mining Policy, the Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) will be a mediator and will take over the responsibility of supplying sand to customers.  With the help of the new Policy, the YSRCP Government can avoid corruption and the illegal supply of sand.

The decision to implement the new Policy was taken after the recent sand issue in the State.  The Sand Mining Policy will also help in resolving issues like the indiscriminate mining of sand, black marketing, hoarding, high sand prices, artificial supply shortage and cross border transportation.

The new Sand Mining Policy will also help the State Government supply sand at affordable prices and generate good revenue from the sales.

Apart from this, the State Government announced it would equip all the vehicles carrying sand with GPS devices and get them registered with APMDC Ltd/Director of Mines and Geology.

The Sand Mining Policy, 2019 came into effect on the 5th of September.

Stay tuned for further updates.
