The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government announced their candidates for the upcoming Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) election.

The Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government announced Mr. P. Vikrant, Mr. Ishaq and Mr. Govind Reddy as the three MLC candidates for the MLC election. The names were finalised on the night of the 10th of November. The names were announced by Mr. Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, the Advisor to the State Government the next day after Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., approved the names.

The three names decided for the nomination of the three MLC seats under the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) quota are from the Scheduled Caste, minorities and Other Backward Class (OBC.)

With this, only the YSRCP has announced the candidates for the upcoming MLC election, scheduled on the 29th of November.

The last date of filing nominations for the MLC election is the 16th of November, whereas the scrutiny of nominations would be taken up on the 17th of November. The last date for the withdrawal of the nomination is till the 22nd of November.

The polling date is scheduled on the 29th of November between 9:00 A.M., to 4:00 P.M. The counting of votes will take place the same day.

Besides the YSRCP, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the JanaSena Party are also expected to contest the election. However, the chances of other parties winning the MLC election under the MLA quota is low. It is to be noted, the MLAs are eligible to vote for the MLC election and of 175 MLAs, the YSRCP has the highest number of MLAs, which is 151.

Therefore, the winning chances of the YSRCP is more than 80 % as the majority of the MLA votes are in the hands of the YSRCP.
