Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, is scheduled to launch Mekapati Gautham Reddy Sangam Barrage, constructed in the Nellore district, on the 6th of September.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would visit Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district on Tuesday to inaugurate the barrage constructed at Sangam on the Penna river.  Notably, the barrage was named after the late Mekapthi Gautham Reddy, the former Information Technology and Industry Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

After the inauguration, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would address a public meeting.  Later, Chief Minister Jagan would reach Nellore and inaugurate the Nellore Barrage Bridge and dedicate it to the nation.   Furthermore, a bronze statue of late Mr. Mekapati Gautham Reddy would also be unveiled at the Sangam Barrage, Nellore.  In addition, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would also unveil a statue of former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh late Mr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy at Nellore Barrage Cum Bridge on Tuesday, the 6th of September.  These idols were made by famous national sculptor D. Rajkumar Wudayar of Kothapet in the Konaseema district.

In addition, speaking about the Sangam Barrage, the project with a storage capacity of 0.45 tmc began in 2008 to 2009 with an estimated cost of Rs. 147.50 crores.  With the inauguration, the project would provide irrigation water to nearly 3.85 lakh acres through Kavali and Kanupuru canals in the Penna delta. 

Highlighting the schedule of Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he would depart Gannavaram Airport at 9:30 A.M., and would reach Sangam Barrage at 10:40 A.M..  Later, around at 11:00 A.M., he would launch the Mekapati Gautham Reddy Sangam barrage and address the public meeting. 

In addition, at 1:20 P.M., Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would launch the Nellore barrage at 1:45 P.M., and open the Nellore Barrage cum Bridge at 1:50 to 2:20 P.M. 

Meanwhile, Mr. K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu, the Nellore District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr. Vijaya Rao, along with Joint Collector Mr. M. Kurmanath, inspected the arrangements at the venue of the public meeting on Sunday, the 4th of September.

Police personnel and other secuirty arrangements were also made for the grand event, which would be attended by the State Government officials and other VIPs.
