Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) held a review meeting regarding the funds of the Polavaram Irrigation Project.

The meeting was held on the 1st of October (Friday) at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) camp office. During the meeting, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the irrigation projects and asked officials to get pending funds from the Central Government. He asked the concerned officials to expedite works and to put in efforts to get pending funds from the Centre for the Polavaram project.

According to the A.P., Government officials, the Central Government is to reimburse over Rs. 2,033 crores for the Polavaram project. Briefing about the pending works, the officials said that the works on the upper cofferdam along with the Gap3 concrete dam of the Polavaram are now completed. With the completion of the work, the water is ready to be used for the next Kharif season.

Regarding the works and damage that happened due to the recent Gulab Cyclone, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the authorities to take immediate action and repair irrigation canals. He asked the officials to complete the work on a priority basis.

In addition, the State CM asked to complete the construction of a second tunnel of the Veligonda and construction of the Neredi barrage. To construct the Neredi barrage, an approval and collaboration with the Odisha Government is required, as it shares land.

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the Water Resources Department officials to focus on the matter as the expenditure should be reimbursed immediately. He even asked the officials to visit Delhi and get clearance for the pending bills for the Polavaram project.

The meeting was attended by the State Water Resources Minister Mr. Anil Kumar Yadav, new Chief Secretary of A.P., Mr. Sameer Sharma, Irrigation Secretary Mr. Shyamala Rao and other YSRCP senior officials.
