Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, on the 22nd of April, Friday, released the third tranche of the YSR Sunna Vaddi scheme for women in Andhra Pradesh.

YSR Sunna Vaddi Scheme, aslo known as the Zero Interest Loan scheme has been launched by the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government in 2020 to benefit the women in the State.  The YSR Zero Interest Loan scheme was an initiative under the regime of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Jagan’s late father and the former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh, (when Telangana and Andhra Pradesh were one state.)  The new scheme would benefit approximately 1.02 crore women belonging to Self Help Groups (8.71 lakh as of 2021) in the State.  These associations in the State work for the welfare of women and children in the Telugu State.  The Andhra Pradesh Government’s YSR Zero Interest Loan scheme would also help nearly 11.50 lakh, poor students of colleges, by paying their full fees. 

Addressing the public meeting on the occasion, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the YSRCP Government has been implementing the YSR Sunna Vaddi scheme for three years now.  Furthermore, the Andhra Pradesh Government released Rs. 1,261 crores, which would be paid in the third instalment, deposited directly into the bank accounts of women beneficiaries.  

Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “When the YCP Government came to power, there were 80 lakh (Development Welfares for Women and Children in Rural Area) DWACRA communities across the state, but today it has not reached 1.02 crore.”

It is to be noted, iIn the third year of the scheme, approximately 1.02 crore women would get benefits. 

Notably, in 2020 April, the YSRCP released Rs. 1,258 crores, in the second year April 2021 Rs. 1,096 crores was released and in the third year, which is April 2022, the YSRCP Government would disburse Rs. 1,261 crores.
