Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 28th of April, launched a new scheme amid the pandemic illness and lockdown.

The new scheme, Jagananna Vidya Deevena,  was launched at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) camp office in Tadepalli, A.P., as a low key affair with a few leaders. 

Under the scheme, approximately 12 lakh poor students would get the benefit of free higher education.  The State Government released an amount  of Rs. 4,000 crores along with Rs. 1,880 crores for the reimbursement of fees for the academic year 2020-2021.

An amount of Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 per year, depending upon the degree,  would be credited directly to the bank accounts of the student’s mothers in Andhra Pradesh.  Nearly 12 lakh bank accounts are registered which would get the amount.  Students pursuing Polytechnic, Degree, Engineering, and Other PG Courses are eligible to apply for the scheme.

After the launch of the scheme, Y.S, Jagan Mohan Reddy interacted with a few students through video call.

This is the second scheme launch during the past few days amid the lockdown and pandemic situation of Coronavirus or COVID-19.  

Recently on the 24th of April, the YSRCP Government launched Zero Interest Loan scheme in the State.

Meanwhile, the situation is getting worse day by day with the increasing cases of the Novel Coronavirus.    In the past 24 hours, the State recorded 82 fresh cases of the virus taking the tally to 1,259 with 31 fatalities.
