Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) finalised the candidates for the Members of the Legislative Council (MLC) elections.

On the 16th of November, Tuesday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy handed the B-form to all the MLC candidates selected for the election. The form was submitted during a meeting today at the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Camp Office in Tadepalli. With the B-form, all the selected candidates would file their nomination papers and stand in the MLC election. The MLC election would be held for 11 MLC seats under the MLA quota.

On the 12th of November, Friday, the YSRCP released the list of candidates, who would contest the Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) election. A total of eleven candidates would contest the MLC election under the Local Authorities Constituencies (LAC) quota.

The candidates who have been nominated for the MLC election are:

Mr. Ummareddy Venkateswarlu

Mr. Raghu Raju of Vizianagaram

Ms. Varudhu Kalyani

Mr. Vamshi Krishna Yadav

Mr. Anantha Babu

Mr. Talasila Raghuram

Mr. Mondithoka Arun Kumar

Mr. Murugudu Hanumantha Rao

Mr. Thumati Madhava Rao

Mr. Barath Krishna

Mr. Y. Siva Rami Reddy

The 11 seats are from Anantapur, East Godavari, Vizianagaram, Chittoor and Prakasam local authorities and two seats each in Krishna, and Visakhapatnam local authorities, respectively.

In addition, three candidates for MLC election under

the MLA quota were also announced. On the 11th of November, the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government announced Mr. P. Vikrant, Mr. Ishaq and Mr. Govind Reddy as the three MLC candidates for the MLC election.

The three names decided for the nomination of the three MLC seats under the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) quota are from the Scheduled Caste, minorities and Other Backward Class (OBC.) The MLC election under the MLA quota is scheduled on the 29th of November.

Elections to 11 seats of the Legislative Council under the local bodies quota are scheduled to be held on the 10th of December.

As per the EC, notifications for the biennial polls would be issued on the 16th of November, which is also the starting date of nomination filing. The last date to file the nomination for the election would be the 23rd of November. The scrutiny of nominations would be done on the 24th of November and the last date for withdrawal of candidatures is the 26th of November.

The polling on the 10th of December would begin from 8:00 A.M., and would continue till 4:00 P.M. The results for the MLC election is scheduled on the 14th of December.
