On the 20th of November, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) expressed grief over the demise of Mohammed Kareemunnisa.

On the night of the 19th of November, the 65 year old Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) passed away. According to sources and her family members, the leader died due to a sudden heart attack.

Ms. Mohammed Kareemunnisa complained of chest pain and was rushed to a private hospital in Vijayawada. She took her last breath while undergoing treatment in the hospital. It is known that Ms. Kareemunnisa attended the Assembly session on Friday morning and was healthy.

In a tweet, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said, “Karimunnisa belonged to the Muslim Minority community in Vijayawada and was a leader with enormous talent. She grew from the stature of a Corporator to a Member of the Legislative Council due to her leadership qualities.”

In Telugu, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy posted, “నా సోద‌రి మహ్మ‌ద్ క‌రీమున్నీసా ఆక‌స్మిక మ‌ర‌ణం న‌న్ను తీవ్రంగా క‌ల‌చివేసింది. నిన్న శాస‌న‌మండ‌లికి హాజ‌రై రాత్రి అక‌స్మాత్తుగా గుండెపోటుకు గురై మ‌ర‌ణించ‌డం చాలా బాధాక‌రం. ఆమె కుటుంబ స‌భ్యుల‌కు నా ప్ర‌గాఢ సానుభూతిని తెలియ‌జేస్తున్నా. వారికి నాతో స‌హా పార్టీ అండ‌గా ఉంటుంది.”

(The sudden death of my sister Mohammad Kareemunnisa left me deeply saddened. It is very sad that she died of a sudden heart attack last night. While conveying my deepest sympathies to her family members.)

Ms. Mohammad Kareemunnisa started her political career with the Indian National Congress (INC.) Later, she joined the YSRCP and played a crucial role in the active politics of Andhra Pradesh.

In 2020, she was elected as the YSRCP MLC and became a legislative council member.
