Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, announced support to Ms. Draupadi Murmu, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Presidential candidate, officially.

On the 12th of July, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, there is a need to elect Draupadi Murmu as the President as part of social justice.  The announcement of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) President Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy came after Ms. Draupadi Murmu held a meeting with the YSRCP Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and the Members of the Parliament (MPs) at Mangalagiri CK Convention Centre.

The meeting held on the 12th of July, Tuesday, was in the view of seeking support from the political parties in different states.  After the recent visit to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other states, Ms. Draupadi Murmu visited Andhra Pradesh.

After the meeting, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy asked all the 151 YSRCP MLAs, 22 MPs and nine Rajya Sabha members to support and vote for Ms. Draupadi Murmu on behalf of the YSRCP. 

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “For the first time a tribal woman got a chance to be a presidential candidate.  From the beginning, the YSRCP government has been maintaining social justice.

It is to be noted, Ms. Draupadi Murmu would be contesting the Presidential elections against Mr. Yashwant Sinha, the Presidential candidate of the opposition, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA.)

Furthermore, the Presidential elections in India are scheduled to be held on the 18th of July and the results would be announced on the 21st of July.
