In a Twitter post, Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party, expressed sadness over the name change of APJ Abdul Kalam View Point.

The Tweet shared on the 19th of April, Wednesday, read, “Saddened to see Abdul Kalam View Point in Vizag being renamed as YSR View Point. What is this psychopathic sadism to change names? This is nothing but disrespecting a much loved people’s president who epitomized honesty, discipline, and perseverance.”

Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu shared the video of the view point, which has been changed to YSR View Point.

It is to be noted, recently the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government renamed the APJ Abdul Kalam View Point to YSR View Point.  The rename decision was taken by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, to honor his late father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.

Furthermore, this is not the first time that the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government excluded the name of former President Mr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.   Earlier, ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar’ was redesignation to YSR Vidya Puraskars in November 2019 and now, the view point in Visakhapatnam has been named after the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh late Y.S. Rajasekhara.

In addition, before the 2024 elections, some more programs or places might see this renaming trend.
