Anil Kumar Yadav, the Water Resource Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 21st of September, conducted a press meet in Tadepalli, Guntur, AP.

During the press meet, Anil Kumar spoke about the reverse tendering of the Polavaram Irrigation Project contracts in AP.  Yadav said the State Government saved Rs. 58 crores with the help of reverse tendering.

Yadav said Max Infra Company, one of the companies which bid on the project, agreed to construct the Project with 15 % less expenses than what was previously decided.

Yadav said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of AP, with the reverse tendering, made a profit and saved approximately Rs. 58 crores.  The comments were targeted at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) which criticised the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) for the same.

Moving further with his criticism, Anil Kumar said the TDP misused the Government’s money by giving more than Rs. 1,000 crores with 4 per cent excess for every project.

Yadav also gave another chance to Navayuga Engineering Company Limited (NECL,) which was terminated from the Polavaram contract on the grounds of corruption.

The Polavaram Project started under the leadership of the Telugu Desam Party and the Central Government.  The Project is a multipurpose irrigation project, which is expected to solve the water crisis in Andhra Pradesh.
