Kadapa: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president elect YS Sharmila asserted that she will work hard for the upliftment of the poor following the ideals of her father late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Sharmila said that her father is a Congress loyalist.
Sharmila on Saturday paid homage to YS Rajasekhar Reddy at his tomb located at Idupulapaya. Addressing the media Sharmila said that she came there to seek blessings of her father before assuming charge as APCC president.
Sharmila said that the word secularism has become namesake in the country and the spirit of the constitution is ignored. Congress should come into power to save democracy. I will work hard to make Rahul Gandhi prime minister of India, Sharmila said.
Senior Congress leaders KVP Ramachandra Rao, Raghuveera Reddy, Tulasi Reddy accompanied Sharmila at Dr. YSR Ghat. Sharmila is likely to take oath as APCC president at a huge ceremony scheduled at Aahwanam function hall at Vijayawada.
