In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a vegetable vendor had to hire bouncers for his precious tomatoes.  The bizarre incident is going viral on social media platforms and making netizens laugh.

Ajay Fauji, a vegetable vendor was looted of tomatoes and claimed people are indulging in fights, following which he hired two bouncers to safeguard his tomatoes.  He said, “I have hired bouncers because the price is too high.”  He further said,  people had been “indulging in violence and even looting tomatoes” and “I didn’t want any arguments”.

The soaring prices of tomatoes in Indian states is not only a trouble for consumers, but vendors who are making efforts to protect their tomatoes from thieves.  Recently, in Karnataka, a farmer lost tomatoes worth Rs. 3 lakhs.  

A similar theft was reported in Telangana’s Mahabubabad district, where a vendor was looted off of 20 kgs of tomatoes.
