The Union Home Ministry Secretary Mr. Ajay Bhalla is scheduled to hold a meeting with the officials of the two Telugu States Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) and Telangana.

According to sources, the union meeting, scheduled on the 12th of January, would be attended by the chief secretaries (CS) of A.P., and Telangana. The meeting is regarding the ongoing water sharing issue, bilateral issues and other pending issues of the two states.

The meeting started at 11:00 A.M., is underway and would discuss the disputes regarding schedule IX and X institutions for bifurcation.

Besides the aforementioned issue, the two governments would also discuss the A.P., State Finance Corporation, the Singareni collieries Company Limited, the allotment of Andhra Pradesh Bhawan in New Delhi and pending electricity bills. It is to be noted, the Andhra Pradesh Government had been raising the issue of dues to the tune of Rs. 6,284 crores pending payment by the Telangana power utilities to APGenco. The Telangana Government, however, clarified that the AP power utilities should in fact pay in excess of Rs. 4,000 crores to Telangana power utilities. The power utilities issue would also be a major part of today’s ongoing meeting with the State Secretaries of Telangana and A.P., and the Union Minister.

In addition, the focus would also be on the division of assets, bank balances and deposits of the two Telugu states, after bifurcation in 2014.

The meeting which started at 11:00 A.M., on the 12th of January, Wednesday is underway.
