Mr. Y.V. Subba Reddy, the Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) inaugurated an incense sticks (agarbattis) manufacturing centre.

The new incense sticks manufacturing unit was launched by the TTD today, the 13th of September. During the inauguration event, Mr. Y.V. Subba Reddy said the TTD would now produce incense sticks using garlands used in the Tirupati Temple. The TTD decided to use the used flowers and garlands of local temples of Chittoor district to make these new TTD brand agarbattis.

The TTD brand incense sticks would be available in seven aromatic fragrances, named after the seven hills of Tirumala. These seven types of incense sticks are named after the seven hills, Abhayahastha, Tandanana, Divyapada, Akrishti, Spashti, Tushti and Drishti.

Briefing about these incense sticks, the TTD Chairman said, “We have made seven types of incense sticks available to the devotees without any chemicals; we also started making toys with used flowers.” He further said, “We are providing temple information with colorful pages.”

In addition, Mr. Subba Reddy, these sticks would be manufactured with a non profit purpose and would be given to devotees, coming to the temple for darshan. The TTD has tied up with the Bengaluru based Darshna International Limited, for the manufacturing of these agarbattis.

The inauguration event was attended by TTD staff, Mr. Bhumana Karunakar Reddy the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA,), Mr. Jawahar Reddy the TTD Executive Officer (EO) and the Additional EO Mr. Dharma Reddy.
