Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh (AP,) on the 26th of July, asked the citizens of AP to plant 5 trees to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas in the State.

Mr. Harichandan paid tribute to the soldiers and army officials who fought bravely against the Pakistani troops in the Kargil War. He planted saplings on the premises of Raj Bhavan, Vijayawada.

Mr. Harichandan was accompanied by government officials and his wife during the event organised to remember the Kargil War, which took place 20 years back, in 1991.

Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked every citizen to plant saplings as a tribute to the army jawans who lost their lives in the Kargil War and protect our environment.

Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said there is ‘a need to safeguard the integrity of the Nation’ and planting trees for a clean environment will be a step towards it.
