Ahead of the local bodies elections and Rajya Sabha elections, a few Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders gave a shock to the Party by quitting.

TDP leaders Gurumurthy Reddy, P.L.S.N. Prasad, T.S.N. Murthy and Rajaka Sangam joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) on the 14th of March.

YSRCP members like Kanna Babu, V. Vijaya Sai Reddy, M.V.V. Satyanarayana and others at an event in Visakhapatnam.  The TDP leaders of Visakhapatnam joined the YSRCP as they agreed with the vision of Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., to make Visakhapatnam the executive State Capital.

Vijaya Sai Reddy, a Member of Parliament (MP) of YSRCP, welcomed the former TDP leaders by felicitating them with the YSRCP Shawl.  He said with the support of people and new joining, the YSRCP would win the upcoming local bodies and Rajya Sabha elections.

Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) is due at the end of the month.  While the Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled on the 26th of March, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections are due on the 23rd of March.

On the 13th of March, the YSRCP announced 98 candidates for the GVMC elections, whereas the TDP and grand alliance of the JanaSena Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not announce any name so far.  Though the TDP and BJP-JanaSena Party alliance filed the nominations, they did not disclose the names to the public.

The last date to file nominations for the GVMC elections was the 13th of March.
