The chief ministers of the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana attended the ‘Azadi Ka Mahotsav’ meeting.

On the 22nd of December, Wednesday, Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi held a virtual national committee meeting on ‘Azadi Ka Mahotsav. Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., and Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the CM of Telangana attended the meeting.

Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, who attended the meeting from Pragathi Nagar, emphasised the need of spreading the messages of Indian patriotic heroes who have lost their lives for the sake of the country.

In addition, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, in his address, emphasised the need of sustainable development and reducing economic disparity in order to unleash the nation’s full potential. He said, “It is imperative that while the needs of the present are met through economic progress, the ability of the future generations to meet their needs should not be compromised.” During his speech, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said the event is the time to rejoice the nation’s freedom journey and pay tribute to fighters who ensured the freedom of India.

On the 15th of August 2022, India would complete 75 years of Independence. To celebrate this occasion, the nation launched, “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” States and UTs including Telangana and Andhra Pradesh decided to celebrate the grand ustav (festival) for 75 weeks. The 75 weeks celebration started in many states from the 12th of March, 2021.
