Mr. K. Sudershan, the Additional District and Sessions Judge of a local court in Telangana, sentenced a 41 year old man to rigorous imprisonment for life.  

The punishment was pronounced to the man for raping his only daughter, a 14 year old, multiple times when she had returned home from her hostel during the lockdown. 

The judge also announced a compensation of Rs. 6 lahks to be paid to the victim.

In addition to the victim’s statement in court, the judge relied on the testimony of her younger brother. 

Getting into the details, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Vikarabad Mr. N. Koti Reddy appreciated the investigating team, court duty personnel, and the prosecutor who argued the case.   

Notably, the verdict in the case came a year after registration, in 2022.  The case was reported to the Kodangal police, with complaint of the victim, who used to stay in a government hostel.  The victim said, she had returned home during the Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown.  Notably, the victim’s mother died, and her father sent his mother to stay elsewhere, leaving him alone with the two children.

The victim did not inform anybody about the assaults and returned to the hostel after school resumed. Her father would assault her whenever she returned home for holidays.

However, last year, she complained to the hostel staff about pain in her private parts. On being questioned about it, she confided in them. The hostel staff went to the police who arrested the father. The court conducted a fast-track trial of the case.
