Mr. Somesh Kumar, the Telangana Chief Secretary, held a video conference with district collectors and other officials regarding the paddy procurement decision taken by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government.  On the 13th of April, Tuesday, Mr. Somesh Kumar discussed the decision taken by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, during a Cabinet meeting.

It is to be noted, on the 12th of April, KCR held a cabinet meeting and announced to procure paddy from the farmers of Telangana for the Rabi season.  In regard to this, Mr. Somesh Kumar asked officials to take stock of the situation in the respective districts.  Mr. Somesh Kumar instructed the Collectors to set up a special control room to daily monitor the progress of paddy procurement in the district.

In addition, a special control room is also being set up at the state level, which would be inaugurated immediately.  Mr. Somesh Kumar directed collectors, additional collectors and other senior officials to take daily trips to at least four paddy procurement centres.

After the aforementioned arrangements, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) would procure paddy from the farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP.)
