In Andhra Pradesh, a war of words between the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) over three state capitals is still underway.

In the latest development in this matter, Mr. Atchennaidu, the President of the TDP in Andhra Pradesh, asked the YSRCP Government to dissolve the assembly and contest fresh elections.

Addressing the media on the 10th of October, Mr. Atchennaidu also blamed the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government for looting the people of Amaravati, by not making the city as the State Capital, as decided under the previous government.  Furthermore, the TDP leader said the YSRCP leaders looted 40,000 acres in north coastal Andhra and demanded an inquiry into land grabbing in Visakhapatnam.  He also alleged that YSRCP leaders are raising decentralisation issues for looting in Visakhapatnam in the name of administrative capital.

The Amaravati capital issue is a problem for the farmers of 28 villages who sacrificed their lands.  In 2014, after Andhra Pradesh and Telangana emerged as two independent states, villagers and farmers of Amaravati gave up their lands to the then ruling Government, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) for the development of Amaravati as the Andhra Pradesh Capital.

However, in December 2019, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP,) the government now in power, proposed three capitals (Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Kurnool) for Andhra Pradesh.
