The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) called for a “Chalo Collectorate” on farmer issues in the Sri Satyasai district.

The protest was called against the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government, for the distress of farmers due to the nonpayment of subsidies, as promised.  In the past three years, farmers would receive payments worth Rs, 4,000 crores.

Notably, the called protest was interrupted by police, who stopped the TDP leaders, from trying to go to the Puttaparthi region.  Police also stopped TDP leaders like Ms. Paritala Sunita and Mr. Paritala Sriram in Ramagiri.

In addition, Mr. Prabhakar Chowdhary was house arrested by the police in Anantapur.  The interference of the Andhra Pradesh Police is being criticized by the TDP leaders, who said, how can Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister not solve the problems of the farmers, and did not answer the people of Sri Satyasai district in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Prabhakar Chowdhary said, “If we are fighting on behalf of the people, they are incensed that it is not right to obstruct and suppress.”

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Police deployed a huge police force in the Sri Satyasai district near the collectorate.
