Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of Reliance Jio, is all set to roll out 5G services in India.

During an event, India Mobile Congress (INC) 2020, Mr. Ambani said, ” assure you that Jio will pioneer the 5G revolution in India in the second half of 2021. It will be powered by indigenous developed network, hardware and technology components.”

Mr. Ambani during the event said, “Jio Platforms, with its family of over 20 startup partners, has built world-class capabilities in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, machine learning, Internet of Things, blockchain, etc.” He further said, “We are creating compelling home-grown solutions in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, financial services, and new commerce.”

Mr. Ambani, the Indian billionaire, noted that the 5G service offered by Jio would be a “testimony” to the Government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) policy.

Besides 5G services in India, the company is also working to develop an affordable Android phone in collaboration with Google that is likely to debut in India.

As per sources, as many as 300 million population of India are still using 2g phones, and the new affordable phone would boost underprivileged people with an access to Android phones and 5G/4G services.

The entry level 4G Android smartphone is likely to be launched in mid 2021 with an affordable price of Rs. 4,000.

Jio is working with companies like Samsung and Qualcomm to bring 5G to India.

The revelation of the 5G services in India by 2021 was first made at the 43rd annual general meeting of Reliance Industries in July.

Jio would start testing 5G networks in the Country as soon as the spectrum would be available.

The 5G services in India are announced to be launched in the middle of 2021.
