Rameshwaram: Ahead of inauguration of Ram Mandir (Lord Rama temple) at Ayodhya on Monday, Prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited a few temples in Tamil Nadu and offered special prayers. 

Rameshwaram has huge significance in Ramayana. It is believed that Lord Rama along with Vanara Sena stayed at Rameswaram and constructed a rock bridge to Sri Lanka.

Modi offered special prayers at Ramanatha Swamy temple at Rameshwaram and offered special prayers. Vedic scholars accorded a ceremonial reception and performed special vedic rituals. Temple was decorated to welcome Modi.

Modi interacted with the priest and also participated in a classical music concert. He clicked a picture with the temple elephant.

Modi’s procession received a huge response in Tamil Nadu.
